Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal is known the world over. I was in Germany in 1966-67. I visited the famous Munich university. In the assembly hall of the university, I saw 5 or 6 pictures hung on the wall behind the stage. One of them was of Allama Iqbal. My German friend pointing to the pictures said, “These are pictures of eminent students of this university. Your poet, Allama Iqbal, is very much respected by Germans. He was a top-class student and a high-level philosopher.” My chest expanded with fresh breath and my head went high up.
Allama Iqbal studied in Europe from 1905 and acquired a law degree at Lincoln's Inn, a Bachelor of Arts at Cambridge and a Doctor of Philosophy at Munich University, all only in three years.
